Here are Five Habits to Help Improve Your Mental Health:
1. Get plenty of sleep
Sleep is important because it allows your body to rest and your mind to reset.
A lack of proper rest can lead to irritability, decline in physical health, weakened immune system, and poor/delayed response.
Pay attention to shift work and how this impacts your sleep patterns.
Try to create a consistent sleep schedule/routine and stick with it.
2. Eat healthy and exercise
Eating healthy foods that are full of vital nutrients helps increase your overall wellbeing and decrease anxiety and stress.
Exercise can also improve your overall mood and fight anxiety and depression. Even short periods of regular exercise can be very beneficial.
3. Find a connection with others
Social interaction is very important, allows you to connect with people, and can help combat the daily stressors.
You can even stretch outside of your normal circle and get involved in the community or volunteer to help boost your mood.
4. Relaxation techniques
Learning and practicing relaxation techniques decreases stress levels, lowers blood pressure, and reduces muscle tension.
There are several different relaxation techniques you may find by clicking here.
5. Practice gratitude and stay positive
Reflect on things to be thankful for in your life. Gratitude is an amazing way to have a positive mindset when life is getting you down.
Write down the things you’re thankful for and refer back to them often.
